Description A circular route from Aberfoyle taking in a round of Loch Katrine. The entire route is on road, most of it single track. Park in Aberfoyle and take the B829 out towards Loch Ard. Continue on up over the hill and eventually drop down to Stronachlacher and Loch Katrine. Take the Water Board road round the loch, past Glengyle house at its head and back along the other side of the loch to the Steamer pier. The road round the loch is a joy and you will meet hardly a soul until, in summer at least, you will arrive at the heaving masses near the pier. Take the A821 from the pier and after a mile or so turn right to climb up over the Duke's Pass. The drop down the other side into Aberfoyle is brilliant. It is probably safer to go into the forest and take the tracks but it won't be half as much fun as racing cars down the road. ian mcgregor, clackmannan |
