15. Ingram

This is only quite a short trip but it's a real treasure of a valley and there must be more exploration to be done here -any feedback would be appreciated. You can start in Ingram or there's plenty of car parking along the road before you actually enter the National Park.

Those old enough to remember Big Chief I-Spy can collect a gem in the shape of a post box inscribed not 'ER' nor even 'GR' but 'VR'. It's to be found in a wall on the R just past the car park in Ingram. The route up the valley is full of interest (even without the post box! Ed.) as the road follows the River Breamish for a while then departs from it to head steeply up towards Linhope. You might want to stroll up to the waterfalls just a short way past the end of the road at Linhope.

The return trip down the valley is a real breeze. There's more to be done here...
